With Bona Mondo UG, I proposed an idea to Chemnitz 2025 Mikroprojekt scheme to make chopsticks jig, host chopsticks making workshops and introduce Japanese food culture. Thankfully the project was accepted and we hosted the second workshop at a maker space "auf weiter flur" in Augusutusburg, where also the chopsticks jigs were made.

For the second edition of our chopstick-making workshop on 15th August 2026, held at the makerspace auf weiter flur in Augustusburg, around 20 participants made their own pair of chopsticks from cherry wood using a simple jig I designed.
As in the first workshop at Makers United Festival 2026, the chopsticks were shaped by hand with a plane out of cherry wood. This time, however, we added a new step: each participant customized their chopsticks with their own motifs, names, or text using a laser cutter. Big thanks to Nadine, the leader of auf weiter flur, all the chopsticks were engraved succsessfully.

At the end of the workshop, we used the freshly made chopsticks to eat Ramen. This time I made Hiyashi Chuka, a Japanese summer Ramen dish served cold as it was over 30 degrees outside.

The workshop brought together woodworking, digital fabrication, and Japanese food culture in one hands-on experience, it was only possible in auf weiter flur with well equipped kitchen and workshops.
